I am Sineaid your local flower farmer. It has been a dream of mine for a very long time to have a flower farm open to the public to enjoy fresh cut flowers.
Flowers have always been a huge part of my life, from when I was a young girl trying to make perfume out of my mums favorite camelias and roses (which my mother was very unimpressed with!) to today when I accidentally killed a tray of poppies because I forgot to water them, oops!
I was inspired by my granny, Iona. She always saw the beauty in life and knew the potential each seed could have.
Iona had the most enchanting garden, around every corner there was something new to discover, from little stools under the oak tree that if we were really behaved during church the fairies would visit and leave little trinkets to beautiful archways leading to a gorgeous space for afternoon tea, overgrown with gorgeous climbing plants that made you feel like just for a minute you were hidden from the world.
In my teens Granny had a stroke and was unable to tend to her garden so my mum volunteered me to help her which was a lot more appealing than milking the cows.
I would weed her gardens and plant out her seedlings while she sat in her garden chair educating me on what was a weed and what was a plant.
It was the first time I had my hands in the soil experiencing the benefit of gardening and it started a hobby that turned into a passion that I hope to pass on to my children.
I hope that our journey and our farm inspire others and the next generation to plant a seed and see where the journey takes them.
